Obtaining The Version Of The Mertech Driver In Use

When an application has been ported from Btrieve to a SQL backend and the Btrieve access dll (w3btrv7 or wbtrv32) has been replaced, the application does not have any indication the backend has changed.  Perhaps you would like the application to verify which backend is in use or you want to be sure the correct version of the Mertech driver is installed.  This can be done through a standard BTRV function call using B_EXTENDED_VERSION (5026) defined in mds_btrieve.h provided with our driver SDK.

Wrong Version Of Btrieve Installed

Symptoms

When starting an application, it complains that Pervasive.SQL Version XX is not installed or that an old/incorrect version of Pervasive.SQL is installed.

PEDTCONV.dll

Symptom

An popup error is shown: “ERROR: could not load Pervasive Extended DataType Conversion library (pedtconv).  Please contact support before continuing to use the application.”

Current Driver Releases

The current releases for Mertech’s BTR2SQL product line are as follows:

BTR2SQL for Oracle (ver 4.0.0.10 updated 2/3/09)

BTR2SQL for MS SQL Server 2008 and 2005 (ver 4.0.0.10 updated 2/3/09)

Status 8020 with Pervasive.SQL V10

Symptoms

An application reports a Btrieve status 8020.  Pervasive.SQL version 10 or above is installed.

Cause

The application shipped with an older version of the Btrieve access dll (W3BTRV7.dll or WBTRV32.dll).  This dll is no longer compatible with later versions of PSQL.
